EDUC 9556 Basics of Educational Consulting/Instructional Coaching

This course is designed to teach the basics of instructional coaching and educational consulting by
empowering teachers in powerful dialogue, emboldening administrators in coaching processes,
and bolstering itinerant staff in their roles as helping professionals to charge the academic
environment with meaningful processes that can be used with staff and students to increase teacher
achievement and heighten student expectations. In this basics course, you will be able to define
coaching and the history of coaching,  understand coaching as a mediation process, evaluate theoretical
best practice, and begin planning your role as an Educational Consultant through contributing to the
work in your practice. After taking this course, you will be theoretically informed and ready to support
your Educational Consulting processes.
